Overhead & Bridge Crane Operator Training

Overhead bridge crane in an industrial factory

This course provides operators with the knowledge and practical skills to operate overhead and bridge cranes safely and in accordance with current legislation. Training is delivered onsite at your premises, using your own equipment where possible.

On successful completion, delegates receive an AITT accredited certificate that is nationally recognised and demonstrates training to a defined standard. Certificates are valid for three years, after which refresher training is recommended.

  • Legislation relevant to crane operation (LOLER, PUWER, HSWA)
  • Roles and responsibilities of the crane operator
  • Pre-use inspection and checks
  • Safe working loads and load charts
  • Controls, travel and load handling
  • Slinging and load attachment (where applicable)
  • Emergency procedures and safe shutdown
  • Practical assessment on your equipment

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for anyone required to operate an overhead or bridge crane as part of their work. It is appropriate for new operators and for experienced operators who need formal accredited certification.

Assessment and certification

The course includes a theory assessment and a practical assessment conducted on your equipment. Delegates who meet the required standard receive an AITT accredited certificate.
